Day 15 - The Soldiers Creed

Hanging Out In Ben’s Room

Shortly after Ben joined the Army in August of last year this poster appeared over his bed. It’s The Soldier’s Creed. For his final English paper in High School he wrote about the benefits of being in the Army. He pretty much broke down every line of this creed and explained what it meant. While we’ve spent the past week and half cleaning his room – just how many socks did this kid really need anyway – the poster remains intact above his bed.

Today, General Sarge decided he needed to visit Ben’s room. Of course it also made for a great photo op of General Sarge standing by the Soldier’s Creed. Ben had it pretty much memorized before he left for Basic Training. I’m sure he has it all memorized by now.

The Soldier’s Creed
I am an American Soldier.

I am a Warrior and a member of a team. I serve the people of the United States and the Army values.

I will always place the mission first. I will never accept defeat. I will never quit. I will never leave a fallen comrade.

I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained and proficient in my warrior tasks and drills. I always maintain my arms, my equipment and myself.

I am an expert and I am a professional.

I stand ready to deploy and destroy the enemies of the United States of America in close combat.

I am a guardian of freedom and the American way of life.

I am an American Soldier.

Staying Army Strong!
Dr. Rus
