Surrounded By Green – March 17, 2011
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Believe it or not, but trying to figure out a picture for today was a little bit of a challenge.
Yes, it is St. Patrick’s Day so I knew it had to be something to do with that. But, a St. Patrick’s Day picture just seemed to easy. Then of course St. Patrick’s Day also means the “wearing of the green”. Since General Sarge is already in the Army, he always wears green! Speaking of which, I read on a Twitter a great post honoring the military.
It went like this…
Let’s salute those in the Army who wear varying degrees of green every day, so we’re free to wear green one day out of the year.
What a great thought and it’s certainly worth repeating here. On this day, just like every other day, we do salute and give honor to those who wear green every day keeping us safe and fighting for our freedom so we can live free each and every day.
So, here it is St. Patrick’s Day and since General Sarge does wear green every day, I decided to come up with something totally different to celebrate.
Take a picture of General Sarge
hanging out with some “green” friends.
Not Kermit – But Some Other Famous Friends
When you think green, many people automatically think of Kermit the Frog. But, Kermit is not in the picture with General Sarge. Instead he has a couple other teddy bear type friends with him. There’s Puff the Magic Dragon from the famous Peter, Paul and Mary song, along with Vern, the turtle from the movie Over The Hedge. Why did I pick those two teddy bears for the picture? It’s really quite simple. Vern actually belongs to Ben while Puff the Magic Dragon is mine, but one that Ben often put in his room.
I’ve said it before, but it’s worth saying again – Sometimes it’s just the little things that remind you of the fact that a family member is in the Army. So, on this St. Patrick’s Day General Sarge and I are remembering Ben in a different way.
We decided to surround General Sarge with some of Ben’s green friends.
Please Help Us Get To Ben’s Graduation
Don’t forget you can support us by buying a “General Sarge’s Family First Campaign” coffee package. All the proceeds from the sales of this coffee package, which contains five 1.5 oz packages of Devil Dog Brew flavored coffee and a signed General Sarge 4×6 picture go towards helping off-set travel costs to Ben’s graduation at the end of April.
Also please note, all of the proceeds from the sale of the “Families First Campaign” will always go to support military families off-set their expenses for graduation travel. It’s important that families attend the graduation ceremonies. But many times they can’t afford to go because of the expense.
So help out General Sarge in this worthy cause.
If you’d like to support financially in other ways, please feel free to contact me via email and we can talk about that too.
