Day 160: Gift-A-Bear Donation

Gift-A-Bear Donations – August 7, 2011

Earlier this weekend we made a stop at our favorite Build-A-Bear Workshop store at the Eastview Mall in Victor, New York. We were in picking up a special new outfit for General Sarge which he will need this coming Saturday for a special appearance he’ll be making.

As we stood chatting with a few people Sarah told us she had a surprise for us. Little did we know just how wonderful the surprise would be!

When Sarah finished helping the other customers at the store who had just bought a new furry friend she turned to us and said – “Someone made three special military bears for the Gift-A-Bear Campaign today!”

We were speechless!

Later in the day Lynne Stiefler stopped by the General Sarge website and left the following comment:

“We’re regular customers at the Eastview Mall Build-A-Bear and Renee shared the story about what you are trying to do with the bears so we made three CHAMP bears and dressed them for your use. We did one as a Marine in honor of our nephew Matt who is currently stationed in Japan and two dress in Army outfits in honor of our other nephew Christopher who was recently discharged from the Army and had been stationed at Fort Bragg. This is a great project and hope you are successful with this. Take care and prayers for you and the family.”

Lynne and Randy, thanks so much for your support and donation of the three bears to the Gift-A-Bear Campaign. Matt and Christopher, thank you for your service to our country.

    1. Yes indeed! Very amazing and we are simply thrilled here at General Sarge HQ too. We already have a pretty good idea where one of the bears will be deployed. Be watching for updates soon!

  1. Hopefully we can do some more bears in the next couple of weeks but since I have been on disability for a while from work it may not be as easy to do it as it would have been before. I think that this is a fantastic program and would like to help as much as we can. Hope that others consider taking some time and spending some money to build a bear for this program or making a donation. Fantastic cause and hope that the bears are loved by those that receive them and that the bear helps them deal with the deployment or loss of a loved one.

    1. Hi Lynne;

      The rest of my furry-friend-staff here at General Sarge HQ have been over-flowing with excitement about your support of the Gift-A-Bear Campaign. We do have just perfect the little girl who is going to receive one of the Army Bears. We’ll keep you posted on that as we’re currently making plans now.

  2. How cool! Sorry for the late response, but I’m just now getting caught up after being surrounded by mountains for a week. I’m so happy to see that the Gift-A-Bear campaign is gaining so much success!

  3. What a wonderful story, I love how Lynne Stiefler and her family donated gift a bears in honor of her nephews. Thank you Lynne for your generosity, I am sure your thoughtfulness will make a military child feel special during a very stress filled time of their young lives.
