It’s Sunday and that means it’s more relaxing around General Sarge HQ. It’s a time to sleep in a little longer, not as long as Saturday morning, and then head off to church.

It’s always best to buy gasoline in our area on a Sunday as many gas stations have what they call a “Gas Sale” where they roll back the usual cost by a few cents. On the way to church this morning, we stopped for some gas. Even though we stopped at a full service gas station, the attendant did not mind letting General Sarge give him a hand because it was really busy at the station!
While we went to church and relaxed some this afternoon General Sarge did a lot of talking about his human-owner PVT Ben who is not having a relaxing day today. Ben called yesterday and we had a great chat. He’s very excited about the fact that his graduation is coming up at the end of this month.
But, in the meantime, there are still training duties! Ben said they were heading out today for a week of maneuvers in full gear! This was a picture from a couple months ago. Since then he’s one of five recruits who were issued new weapons. I have no idea what the name and number of the weapons are. But I do know this, the one he’s holding in this picture is smaller than what he has now. His new Semi-Automatic-Weapon weighs in around 17 pounds! He said the training session finishes on Friday with a 12 mile march back to the base. Of course being the encouraging dad I am I chuckled and said – “Good luck with that son”.
DS Buff On Vacation
Yesterday we had pictures of Drill Sergeant Buff in Washington visiting some of the war memorials. Today she’s taking life a little easier with a walk along the beach.
Well, I say a little easier because even though she’s on some much needed R&R as she prepares for the P90X/Bear Dare coming up in May, she still dropped to the boardwalk for some push ups! Look at her go! Not only is she doing push ups while on vacation, she’s doing the push ups with one leg up in the air! Wow! Now that’s what I call commitment.
We’re very excited about Ben’s upcoming graduation, but we’re also asking for help to off-set our costs to Fort Benning. There are now two ways you can help us as we prepare for the trip.
The proceeds from the above purchases go to our
“Families First Campaign”.
Also, if you would like to make a direct tax-deductible donation to us you can do that as well. Just send me an email for information about how to do that.
Last but certainly not least, it’s time once again to ask the question – “Where is General Sarge”?

I call this one “Who’s Watching Whom?” You just never know where General Sarge is going to show up. Once again these fun pics come from the PicJoke site. They have all kinds of fun pictures where you can drop in your own face! Today it looks like this photographer is somewhat surprised as he’s zoomed in close on General Sarge.

I believe Ben currently has the M249 SAW (Squad Automatic Weapon). That’s a fun weapon. 🙂
Hey there Tracy!
You are right! That’s the name of the weapon!
Thanks for the clarification!
