Day 95: Adding Car Oil

Adding Car Oil – April 22, 2011

Okay I’m a General and I usually don’t do this kind of stuff. After all, once you become a General you find other military grunts to do this type of work. I do remember how to change oil and do small maintenance type things on cars. But that was a long time ago when I was just a Sarge. Since then, things have changed.

But, today we had to put some oil into my human-owners Mom’s car. Apparently this was also something PVT Ben would do with his Dad. One of those father-son things to make bonds. I don’t about bonding but I do know my human-owners Dad’s hands were dirty when he finished doing this! He even made me hold one of the oil bottles upside down as it went into the car. It’s a good thing all I had to do was hold the oil bottle upside down. It kept slipping out of my paws when I tried to start pouring it into the engine.

I’m not exactly sure what all this means, but I did hear my human-owners Dad saying something to my human-owners Mom that when the “Idiot light” comes on in the car that’s telling the “idiot behind the steering wheel something needs attention”. Then, for some reason she hit him! I have no idea why she did that. Maybe someone can explain that to me.

But, whatever that hitting was all about, apparently everything should be find in my human-owners Mom’s car until she gets an oil change now.

Month of the Military Child: Build-A-Bear Giveaway

Don’t forget that April is Month of the Military Child and we’re really excited here at General Sarge HQ to be working with Build-A-Bear as they gave us a special Military Build-A-Bear to giveaway to a military child! We’ll make the draw and at the end of the month and announce the winner of the special teddy bear on Monday, May 2. It’s really easy to enter a military child you may know and anyone can enter the name of a military child. All we need is the name of the child, the name of the parent and what branch of the military he or she is serving in. Of course we also need important things like an email address, mailing address and phone number too. Please spread the word!

There are two ways to enter;

Help Us Get To Fort Benning

We’re very excited about Ben’s upcoming graduation, but we’re also asking for help to off-set our costs to Fort Benning. There are now two ways you can help us as we prepare for the trip.

The proceeds from the above purchases go to our
“Families First Campaign”.

Also, if you would like to make a direct tax-deductible donation to us you can do that as well. Just send me an email for information about how to do that.

  1. General, tell DrRus that the real idiot is the one who calls his wife an idiot!! Thanks. Did she hit him with a frying pan? I hear the cast iron ones work best.

    1. Hi Shari;

      Well, I think he tried to explain that it wasn’t him calling his wife an idiot. It was the car calling her that. But, I don’t think she believed him. And, come to think of it, I do remember seeing a big dent in the cast iron frying pan. I wondered how that got there.

  2. Oh dear, it certainly seems that Dr Rus is going to get a little more flak over the “idiot” remark, even though it was the cars fault 😉 I think he’s going to have to run for cover if anyone else gives him a telling off 😆 😉

    1. Hi Slappy!

      I have noticed Dr Rus is catching it from others here in the comment section about his “idiot light” comment to my human-owners Mom. I’m thinking he said it as a joke, but a lot of people are giving him a hard time about it. What do you think? Should I make Dr Rus give me 20 push ups?
