Trot with Troops – May 26, 2011
General Sarge enjoys hanging out with the troops and he especially loves hanging out with new recruits. After all, he is a bear that wants to encourage military families. General Sarge also wanted to help get the word out about an upcoming event supporting our troops that’s taking place this weekend in Rochester, New York.
Operation Patriot Foundation is presenting an event called Trot with Troops this Sunday, May 29. As you can see General Sarge is all set with a pair of running shoes on. He even found a future soldier to pose with for the picture today.
Pictured with General Sarge today is Rachel Eddinger. She’s a new recruit from the Newark, New York Army Recruiting Station. She ships out for her basic training at Fort Jackson, SC in July. Her MOS is 15 Romeo, Appache Repair. Rachel will spend 9 weeks at Fort Jackson for her basic training and then 18 weeks at Fort Eustis, Virginia for advanced training. Rachel is also one of our future soldiers we’re trying to help through the Families First Campaign too so her family can attend her graduation. If you’d like to help Rachel’s family you can find out how through our Families First Campaign information page.
Trot With Troops
While I know not everyone reading these daily adventures is from the Rochester, New York area, lets get the word out and encourage anyone who can attend to make this great event! Here at General Sarge HQ we found out about the event through our good friend Michele Ladd who supports our troops through her organization Heroes Home Advantage. Michele and her group of Realtors do a great job supporting our soldiers by helping them find affordable housing and obtain loans and mortgages for homes.
For more information about the Trot with Troops event on May 29 you can visit the Facebook event page;
Rachel, who was also getting ready to head off for physical training right after we took the picture today, told me some recruiters from the Newark, New York Recruiting Station are set to trot in this event too.
