Day 153: NYS Senator Michael Nozzolio

NYS Senator Michael Nozzolio – July 30, 2011

Today was a very special day as we went on a road trip!

I wrote briefly about it yesterday in the picture of General Sarge with his new brochures. Senator Michael Nozzolio invited us to attend the Dedication Ceremony for the new Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Romulus, NY.

After taking the picture yesterday General Sarge made a change into his dress uniform for the service. After all, since it was a special occasion we knew it was time for the dress uniform not his daily ACU’s. Next we packed the brochures, camera and other things we needed for the ceremony in my briefcase and General Sarge jumped in!

We wanted to make sure we got a big “two paws up” out to New York State Senator Michael Nozzolio today.

Here at General Sarge HQ we’d like to thank the Senator for all his hard work in getting to this point for the Veterans Cemetery. It’s been 10 years in the making and Senator Nozzolio has had a passion to get this land set apart and designated for a Veterans Cemetery. Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery is located on 100 acres formerly occupied by the Sampson Naval and Air Force Base. Today was a wonderful day of honoring not only those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country in previous wars, but also for all those who are serving today.

It was an honor for us to be present at the event today. I took a lot of pictures and tomorrow I will post those. General Sarge met many great people. Parents of current soldiers, former soldiers and a number of people from many of our great branches of the military.

  1. Looks like a fun time, and I’m sure General Sarge spoke proudly of the Families First Campaign and got a lot of new contacts. Wish I could have been there!

  2. If you put the travel bag on some wheels, then General Sarge would have his own little car there in that picture 😆 Seriously though, great to hear that you all had a great time 😉

    1. Hey Karen!

Hmmmm – a teddy bear that can drive. That could make for an interesting combination. Of course you do realize if General Sarge got something to drive Slappy Bear would want one too.
