Sir General Sarge – August 14, 2011
What a wonderful day I had at the Sterling Renaissance Festival yesterday! Everyone was so nice and I met a lot of new friends too.
As soon as we arrived at the festival we found Queen Elizabeth and she Knighted me in an official ceremony and everything. What an honor to be in the presence of the Queen and have her make me a Knight. Her Majesty even used Sir Francis Drake’s sword to Knight me. It was a very exciting time and I was also very happy there were little children around for the ceremony too. They watched very closely and thought it was pretty cool for a bear like me to be bestowed with such a great honor.
So Much To Do At The Festival!
We saw some great shows and even saw the Queen get wet during the Queen’s Challenge which featured a number of fun games. After Sir Walter Raleigh accidentally threw water on the Queen she taught all of us a very important lesson. Everyone thought Queen Elizabeth would be very upset about getting wet. But instead she said “If you’re going to take part in sport games, it’s also very important that you be a good sport too.” Her Majesty is a very wise woman.
I also spent time with my good friends Mother Redempta and Sister Philomena Claire. I hung out with Don Juan and Miguel, Lenny the Mater Reveler, Sheriff Spector, the Countess of Warwick, the Prince of Moraco and so many more!
But I have to admit the most exciting time of the day for me was the Joust. The horses are big the Knights are impressive and the competition is fierce.
Look at me on this horse! He certainly is big! As a Knight it’s a great honor to take part in the joust as the Queen and her Royal Court are also present. This is one of Queen Elizabeth’s favorite events to watch during the day.
My human-owners Dad took a lot of pictures at the Renaissance Festival. They would take up a lot of space if I put them all up here. But I want to make sure you have an opportunity to see all the great people I meet at the festival. So here’s a link to where you can find all the pictures from the Festival.
Thanks to all the nice people who made sure I had a great time at the Sterling Renaissance Festival.
Two paws up!
