A Visit To Fort Drum – August 27, 2011
We went on a road trip this week! If you follow General Sarge on Twitter – @GeneralSarge – you may have seen his quick Tweet about the Thursday trip. SPC Tracy Bonzo and CPL Buddy needed to make a trip to Fort Drum for some supplies. So we went along.
It’s great visiting a base as you’re always “Welcomed home”. This was our first visit to Fort Drum and actually it’s about time we made it there. After all, since it’s the closest base to General Sarge HQ you could say this is the main base for General Sarge.
Here’s General Sarge being welcomed to Fort Drum
by MSG David Phelps!
Catching Up With Old Friends
David and I actually go way back. We first met at Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, New York and we both attended Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky as well.
That made this visit to Fort Drum even more special as it gave David and I a chance to catch up some. Not only did we catch up on what’s been going on in our lives but General Sarge enjoyed getting back together with his “old” Army buddy too.
Just before this picture General Sarge leaned over to David and said…
“So, you’re a Master Sergeant now huh? I remember you when you were just a lowly Private and I was Lieutenant. Do you still remember how to do push ups soldier?”
General Sarge didn’t make MSG Phelps do any push ups. But I do think they reminisced some about their many years of service. MSG Phelps has been serving for 34 years! As General Sarge always says…
“Two paws up and thanks for your faithful service to our country.”
